About Kumbhakodu School
We offer structured violin training for students in India and abroad, tailored to different levels and learning preferences.
- India – Online and offline classes are conducted on weekends.
- Abroad – Online classes are conducted on weekdays, during morning IST hours to suit international time zones.
- Course Levels – Training is available from Sarali Varisai (beginners) to advanced repertoire.
- Group Classes – Conducted in Chennai, with a focus on collective learning and shared practice.
- Individual Classes – Offered for students from abroad ensuring personalized attention and progress.

At Kumbhakodu School of Violin, we aim to nurture passion for music in every student. Our mission is to provide high-quality violin education to aspiring musicians of all ages.
About the Tutor's Musical Journey
My inspiration to learn the violin began with Vid. Dr. Vidhyabhushana, whose music deeply moved me. Later, I found renewed inspiration through Padma Shri awardee Vid. A. Kanyakumari by listening to her performances on the radio.
Encouraged by Shri Natraja Bhat and Professor Shrikrishna Bhat (Madras University), I took a significant step forward in my musical journey. On April 2, 2005, I began training under Vid. A. Kanyakumari. With the guidance of Shri Natraja Bhat, I moved to Chennai to continue my learning, staying at Shankara Gurukulam, Abhiramapuram.
I am deeply grateful to Shri Krishnamurty Iyer and Shri Ramachandra Iyer for kindly offering me accommodation at no cost. Special thanks also go to H. K. Subramanya Sharma for his valuable guidance. I received support from Smt. Yogam Santhanam and Shri Santhanam, who helped establish the teaching infrastructure needed for my training.
Over time, I learned the intricacies of the instrument from Rajiv Mukundan, and spent countless hours practicing with the Tirumarugal Brothers and Smt. Anusha Shreeram. I also had the privilege to collaborate frequently with A. Shyam Prakash, son of Professor Shrikrishna Bhat, whose singing enriched my musical expression.
I'm also pursuing sound engineering from Shri L Babaprasad.

Padmashri Vid. A. Kanyakumari
I found renewed inspiration through her performances on the radio. On April 2, 2005, I began training under Vid. A Kanyakumari. My entry into Kanyakumari Mam’s class was through a telephone audition, where I played Ninnukori Varṇam and Deva Deva Kalayamithe.
Vidwan Shri Vasudeva Acharya
I started learning violin in the year 2000, at the age of 18, hailing from my hometown of Mangalore. My early training was under Shri Vidwan Vasudeva Acharya from Kasaragod.
